How opportunities are generated
Click Discover on the AEO Opportunities page. Erlin runs a pipeline that:- Fetches your latest visibility snapshots
- Compares current visibility to previous scans (identifies gains, losses, and gaps)
- Cross-references with citation data (which sources AI cites, whether you appear on them)
- Generates prioritized opportunities with action steps
Opportunity types
Each opportunity falls into one of four categories:Priority and effort
Each opportunity has a priority score from 0 to 100. Higher scores represent higher potential impact. Erlin calculates priority based on influence score of the source, visibility change magnitude, and competitor presence. Each opportunity also has an effort level:Working with opportunities
Status workflow
Filter opportunities by status using the tabs at the top of the page:- Open: actionable opportunities waiting for your attention
- Completed: actions you have finished
- Saved: bookmarked for later
- Dismissed: not relevant, hidden from the open view
The detail panel
Each opportunity detail shows:- Title and description: what the opportunity is and why Erlin flagged it
- Action steps: numbered steps to take (specific and concrete)
- Source URL: the page AI cites (for Get Citation opportunities)
- Matched page: your existing page that could be improved (for Update Content)
- Competitors mentioned: which competitors appear in this context
- Influence score: how impactful the source is (0 to 1.0)
- Prompt text: the tracked prompt that triggered this opportunity
Filtering by type
Use the type filter next to the Discover button to show only specific opportunity types. Toggle New Content, Update Content, Get Citation, or Track Prompt on or off.Acting on a “New Content” opportunity
When you open a New Content opportunity, the detail panel shows a progress card with three steps: Research, Brief, Article. Click Create Article to start generating content for that topic. Erlin opens the article creation page with the keyword pre-filled from the opportunity title. As you progress through the content workflow (brief created, article generated), the progress card updates. If you return to the opportunity later, the buttons change to View Briefs or View Articles depending on how far along the content is.When new opportunities appear
Erlin generates new opportunities automatically after each visibility scan completes. As fresh scan data comes in, Erlin detects new gaps and changes and surfaces them as opportunities. If opportunities do not appear after a scan (for example, due to a temporary issue), click Discover to trigger the pipeline manually. The pipeline reads the latest snapshots and generates any missing opportunities.Related
